林道株式会社 （Bike Tour Japan　市内自転車ツアー会社）

桐生市内に、林道株式会社（US company name: Bike Tour Japan）という主に外国人観光客をターゲットにした自転車ツアー会社があります。ツアーは、桐生市内はもちろん、赤城山や日光から、長野、京都、瀬戸内（しまなみ海道）など全国にわたります。なかでも特徴的なのは、林道にフォーカスしたサイクリングです。
アメリカ西部の山々には車の通らない砂利道が連なっていますが、日本の山々には車の通らない「舗装道路」が網の目のように張り巡らされています。川沿いのサイクリングロードと並んで、林道は日本有数のライディングロードなんです。森林整備や古い峠道の集合体で、自然が豊かで、車も通らず、舗装も綺麗な林道は、日本のサイクリングの真髄だ。（BikeTour Japan　HPより）
ほとんどの田舎に住む日本人は、林道の素晴らしさをあまり感じた事はないかもしれません。ですがあの狭い林道は、スギ林や川沿い、落葉樹の落ち葉など、日本らしさ満開なサイクリングロードだったんです。より地方に広がるインバウンド需要に応えられるコンテンツはここ桐生にもあるんだと考えさせられました。代表のロバートは現在、桐生市内の山を使ったMTBコースを作りはじめています。ここ桐生に世界レベルのMTBコースを作りたい。と目標を語ってくれました。これからますます桐生が面白くなりそうです。

We are Mr. and Mrs. Kainose, owners of an outdoor equipment and cafe store in the Umeda area of Kiryu City. Our store is an Eco-friendly outdoor style convenience store.

Before we opened, my wife’s grandparents opening the store as a local convenience store, as they would in any rural area, but it had been closed since 2010 when her grandfather passed away. Eleven years later, in 2021, we, his grandchildren, reopened the store as Outdoor Style Convenience Store.

It has become a convenience store and a place of relaxation for neighborhood like our grandparents did, And for outdoor enthusiasts who enjoy the nature of Umeda, it is a store offering outdoor equipment and refreshments. This Umeda area boasts wonderful nature such as satoyama, rivers, and lakes. We decided to create a cycle map to introduce fascinating stores in the city center to cyclists who also enjoy this wonderful nature.

There is a bicycle tour company in Kiryu City called Rindo Kabushikigaisha (US company name: Bike Tour Japan), which mainly targets foreign tourists.Tours are offered not only in Kiryu City, but also all over Japan, from Akagi Mountain, Nikko, Nagano, Kyoto, Setouchi (Shimanami Kaido) and more.One of the most distinctive features of the company’s tours is its focus on forest roads(Rindo).
Where the west of the US has strings of car free gravel fire roads that stretch over their mountains, Japan is home a uniquely massive web of car free paved roads throughout their mountains. Along with the river cycling roads, Rindo forest roads make up some of the best riding in Japan.Referred to as Rindo 林道 (meaning Forest Roads), they are a collection of forest maintenance and old mountain pass roads. Full of nature, car free, and amazing pavement Rindo are the quintessential Japanese cycling experience.
Most Japanese living in the countryside may not have much appreciation for Rindo. But that Rindo was a bicycle path full of Japanese style with cedar forests, riverside, and fallen leaves of deciduous trees.It made me think that there are contents here in Kiryu that can meet the inbound demand that is spreading to more rural areas.
Robert, the representative, would like to create the World class MTB course in Kiryu City. He told us about his goal. And this big project has been just begun!!Kiryu is going to become more and more interesting from now on.
